Why paint with fire, to the point of allowing the canvas to burn?

Fire introduces into the work something I cannot completely control. It acts upon the material, alters it, opens voids and leaves traces.

It can illuminate, consume, transform. It has no stable form, and precisely for this reason it becomes part of the creative process.
The burns are not merely signs of destruction: they are the result of a passage.

The canvas changes, loses a part of itself and takes on a form that did not exist before.
Fire does not complete the work: it transforms it.
