Sometimes an artwork is born from a lack. Other times from a need that presses inside, silent but insistent.

“Fragile connections” was born this way:

from the desire to tell the story of belonging as something imperfect, vulnerable… and for this very reason, authentic.

Two bodies seek each other, embrace, merge. We don’t know who they are. We don’t need names.

The faces dissolve upward, as if identity is something that disperses in the encounter with the other.

The cracks on the body do not wound.

They tell a story.

They are memory, experience, passages.

In every fracture is the story of what we have been and the courage to remain.

In every color, the tension between presence and dissolution, between holding on and letting go.

I painted this artwork at a time when I felt a strong need to put contact back at the center.

Not the perfect one, but the fragile one.

Not the one that defines, but the one that allows itself to be permeated.

In a world that pushes us to defend ourselves, these two bodies offer themselves.

And they belong to each other — in their fragility.
